Thank you for contacting the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
While we appreciate how important your request is, it falls outside the foundation's current giving priorities. We have chosen to focus on issues we believe we can help do the most good for the most people. To remain focused, we must decline many worthwhile requests, leaving other donors to support these causes.
The foundation supports non-profit organizations in the following areas:
* The Global Development Program is committed to helping hundreds of millions of families in the developing world emerge from extreme poverty and hunger over the next 10 to 15 years. We support efforts to improve crop production and access to markets for smallholder farmers, facilitate access to financial services for the poor and support public access to computing in libraries worldwide.
* The Global Health Program encourages the development of lifesaving medical advances and helps ensure they reach the people who can benefit the most from them, particularly in developing countries. The Global Health Program has these priority areas: Infectious Diseases; HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Reproductive Health; Global Health Strategies; and Global Health Technologies.
* The United States Program seeks to reduce inequity and increase access to opportunities for America's low-income and most vulnerable people. Nationally, the United States Program works on education, particularly early childhood learning, high schools, and college scholarships, as well as access to information through technology in public libraries. In Washington state and the greater Portland, Oregon area, we make community grants that support at-risk families.
* Charitable Sector Support provides grants to U.S.-based non-profit organizations whose work enhances public understanding of the U.S. charitable sector and helps donors increase the effectiveness of their philanthropy. It does not provide funds for fundraising projects.
